Arrive in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, which is surrounded by lush green mountains and valleys. Transfer from the airport to the Hotel, the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Buffet breakfast in our restaurant El Patio, from 6am till 9am. San Jose City Tour pick up time at 1:00 pm in the lobby. Starting on the East side of San Jose, the first thing we will do is go to a restaurant to enjoy a delicious typical lunch. On the tour you can see Democracy Plaza, the National Museum, the National Court, Los Yoses, San Pedro Mall, Hispanidad Fountain and the Rodrigo Facio Campus on the University of Costa Rica. The tour continues through the western section of San Jose: La Sabana Metropolitan Park (first International Airport in Costa Rica), Costa Rican Contemporary Art Museum , the National Gymnasium, the Comptroller’s office, the residential area in Rohrmoser, the Nunciatura, Nobel Peace Prize Winner and Republic President Oscar Arias Sanchez’s home, the Rohrmoser Boulevard and Pavas section.

Buffet breakfast in our restaurant El Patio, from 6am till 9am. Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs Tour, pick up time at 8:00 a.m. in the lobby. Located in the north of Costa Rica, the impressive Arenal Volcano is a natural phenomenon that attracts thousands and thousands of tourists due to its permanent and extraordinary volcanic activity. On the way to the imposing Arenal Volcano there will be a stop at the famous town of Sarchi, known as the Birthplace of Costa Rica’s Artisans, the journey will continue passing by diverse plantations with agricultural products, ornamental plants and cattle ranches until arriving at La Fortuna Town, for lunch at a cozy restaurant right in front of the volcano. Later on, you will relax at one of the best hot springs in the area where it is also possible to enjoy an optional massage or other special treatment (must be reserved ahead of time). Before going back to San José, a wonderful dinner will be served with a great view of the volcano so that you do not miss any opportunity to look out for the incandescent light explosions.

Suggested Equipment: Swimsuit, comfortable walking shoes (if there is good weather), sweater, insect repellent, and a towel (optional).

Drive to the Sarapiquí area through the extraordinary rainforest of Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the most important rainforest reserves in Costa Rica. On arrival at Sarapiqui, a beautiful area known for its impressive natural richness, you will board a boat for a relaxing ride on the Sarapiqui River where you will feel in close contact with nature and admire the inspiring surroundings. After the boat ride you will continue with a walk on Selva Verde Eco lodge’s private trails which are a heaven for nature enthusiasts, hikers, bird and wildlife watchers. Following lunch and on route to San Jose, a visit to the famous Rainforest Aerial Tram is included, for a ride on a gondola through the tree canopy in company of a naturalist guide that will talk to you about the wonderful rainforest.

The Rain Forest Aerial Tram – Atlantic is a 475-hectares (1,200-acre) private reserve that shares a 10 km border with Braulio Carrillo National Park, constituting a buffer zone between the park and farming lands.

Tortuguero Canals, pick up time 6:00 a.m in the lobby. Depart from San José accompanied by your bilingual naturalist guide. Driving first past coffee plantations, we'll head into the mountains of Braulio Carrillo National Park where steep slopes are covered with thick cloud forest and beautiful waterfalls can be seen from the road.

Just after Braulio Carrillo National Park, we stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, coffee, eggs and the popular gallo pinto. Following breakfast, we continue to a Banana Plantation where we visit a Banana Packing Plant. Your guide will explain the process of growing and exporting that fruit. We later abandon our bus and embark on the most exiting part of this tour: the boat trip into the jungle on the Caribbean Canals to the world famous Tortuguero National Park. We will enjoy a hearty, typical lunch to please the hungriest of appetites. After lunch we will take a tour to Tortuguero Town where you will have a chance to interact with the local people as you walk on the beach.

Returning to the bus, we head back to San José, making a rest stop along the way and arriving around 6:30pm.

Coffee plantations tour, pick up time 8:00 a.m in the lobby. This entertaining and informative day starts with a guided tour through one of Costa Rica’s most famous coffee plantations.

Enjoy a brief presentation describing our famous coffee production; finally, you will be treated to a delicious lunch and have a chance to sample this fine product.
